If you look through your messages you will probably notice that you use a lot of the same phrases over and over. But did you know you can be boring and repetitive in half the time by creating a few text replacements? A text replacements, formerly called keyboard shortcuts, let you enter an entire word or phrase by typing just a few characters.

For example, Apple has already set one up for “On my way!” The company’s thoughtfulness means fully half of your text messages can be quickly taken care of by typing the characters “omw.”

To create your own shortcuts, go to Settings > General > Keyboard, then tap Add New Shortcut. The possibilities are endless:

“Hdyr” for “Honey, did you remember to … ?” when texting your spouse.

“Nycc” for “No, you can’t have any cookies.” and “dyh” for “Do your homework.” when texting your children.

“Idwiw” for “I do what I want.” for your kids when they text you back.

What phrases do you use the most when texting? Let us know in the comments.
